How we look after public money.
These rules say how the council looks after public money.
Every payment is approved by two councillors and recorded by the Clerk. Nobody can approve a payment to themselves or their family.
For work costing more than £3,000 we ask for three quotes. For work over £30,000 we run an open tender.
The budget is set each January. Councillors check spending against it every three months, and the figures are published on the Spending page.
An independent internal auditor checks the books each year, and an external auditor reviews the annual return.
