Who may sponsor council publications, and the rules they agree to. Sponsors never influence council decisions or content.
Local firms can sponsor this website and the council newsletter. The money helps pay for the service, so it costs residents less.
A sponsor is always labelled as a sponsor and shown in a ruled box, apart from council information. Sponsors get a name, a short line of text and a link. Nothing else.
Sponsors never influence council decisions, contracts, grants or what we publish. Sponsoring the website gives a firm no advantage when the council buys goods or services, and a firm that already works for the council is treated like any other sponsor.
If a sponsor also bids for council work, the councillors and officers who decide follow the Financial Regulations as normal, and the sponsorship is noted in the report.
We do not accept sponsorship from political parties, lenders charging high interest, gambling, tobacco or vaping firms, or anyone in a live planning or licensing dispute with the council.
Places are limited. The Clerk checks every request against this policy before it goes live, and the council can end a sponsorship at any time and refund the unused part.
The council can switch sponsorship off altogether at any meeting.
